Who We Are

Imobi is a mobile solutions company providing tailored sms solutions to a broad based market. The offices of imobi are situated in Cape Town, South Africa.

Imobi is the brainchild of three dynamic entrepreneurs who have their careers firmly embedded in the field of IT. With a combined experience of more than 40 years in the fields of retail, mobile technology and IT development and maintenance, this wealth of knowledge and experience is what determines the firm establishment, guidelines and framework which produces results and success for us and our clientele.

The Director of our Business Administration has more than 20 years of experience in retail and operations. He still currently holds several directorships in companies in the Western Cape and has founded and nurtured several successful businesses. His main area of experience is operational development from start-up to sustainability in SMME's. He has a wealth of experience and business contacts. His major accomplishments include the development of a retail family business, the establishment, growth and handing over of a retail IT concept store, the operational control of several other retail operations including a fine dining restaurant, the development of a import/export company as well as consulting on a major middle eastern industrial development. In 2000 he made a switch from General Management to a more defined role in Entrepreneurial Development and Coaching and decided to embark on the completion of his Masters Degree in Business Administration in Barcelona, Spain.

Our Systems Engineer has a National Diploma in Financial Information Systems, is a certified VMWare professional, currently studying towards a RedHat Certified Engineer and BComm Information Systems. With work experience at Vodacom, MagmaTec and SANBI, his major accomplishments include website redevelopments, rebuilding a data centre and server room as well as implementation of framework architecture and virtualised infrastructure. Also included in his proficiency is networking integration and server management.

Our Chief Software Engineer, Samir Franciscus, has a National Diploma in IT (Cape Peninsula University of Technology) and completing a BSc in Computer Science focusing on Software Engineering at Unisa. His major professional accomplishments include the development of Mysite, a website builder for Mweb developed using programming languages like Perl and CGI as well as work on the development of the Mweb portal using web programming languages like ASP. He has also developed virtual e-learning software tools for using Visual Basic and the .Net platform.

He has been involved in the developmet and maintentence of Java software development projects for MagmaTec, a software development company that develops financial software solutions.

He has conceptualised, researched and developed software from low level assembly languages to C/C++ recently working on extending an open source sms gateway. He as also designed developed and maintained distributed software systems and enterprise applications using software development platforms like Java and utilising various object orientated frameworks and patterns. These are extended to the web with Ajax frameworks like GWT and to the mobile with J2ME.

He is currently involved in designing the architecture and development of the mobile platform for imobi making extensive use of PHP.
